Hello and welcome! I am a political scientist working in international and comparative political economy, with a focus on the politics of money, finance, and economic policymaking. I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto.

My research examines how political actors and institutions shape economic outcomes, and how economic ideas, media narratives, and social identities influence political and market behavior. I am especially interested in three areas:

  • Media and the economy: I study how the media describes economic events, how these narratives shape beliefs and behavior, and when media-driven categories become economically consequential.

  • Money, finance, and currency politics: I examine how governments, firms, investors, and social groups contest currency and financial policy, including exchange-rate politics, sovereign debt, and monetary dependence.

  • Leaders in political economy: I study whether and how leaders’ personal characteristics — including gender, education, and occupational background — shape fiscal, trade, and other economic policies.

My work is published or forthcoming at International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, and the European Journal of Political Economy, among others.

I received my Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Virginia in 2023. I also hold an MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an MA and BA from the University of Bologna.
